The Pilea is a low maintenance species that thrives in a bright spot near a window, but it is best to keep the plant out of direct sunlight as too much direct sun can cause the leaves to burn. However, too little light can cause the leaves to fade and the plant's overall health to suffer, so take time to find a spot that's just right.
The Pilea is one of the easiest and most interesting plants to propagate in water. Cuttings and pups spread it around the world, earning it one of its many nicknames, the Friendship Plant. This plant is the gift that keeps on giving!
Allow the top 2”-3” of the Pilea soil to dry between waterings. Typically, watering this plant once a week will suffice. Drooping leaves can be an indication that the plant is ready for water, but always test the soil to confirm your diagnosis.
Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust the leaves often so the plant can photosynthesize efficiently. When dusting the leaves, also take the opportunity to inspect the undersides and keep an eye out for pests.
